Category: New Album

As promised, David Cook will soon be releasing a new album. He is currently in the middle of writing and recording with the help of Andy Skib. Being a busy, successful musician doesn’t stop Cook from pursuing some personal interests as well.

For the past couple months, Cook has been training for the LA Marathon. His training was set back a little when the singer recently suffered a minor injury. This hasn’t lessened his determination to finish the marathon on March 18, 2012.

Cook is an avid tweeter. During some of his downtime, he has been taking questions from fans. Just last Thursday, Cook found himself home sick and decided to make the most of it. He alerted his fans that he would be doing a Q&A. Fans responded by flooding Cook’s Twitter feed with a random selection of questions.

From Cook’s answers, we gathered that his new album is coming along well. He is pleased with and excited about the new material. We are thrilled to hear this! If Cook likes it, chances are that we will too. Unfortunately, he would not give fans even a sample of some of his songs or song titles. We’ll just have to wait.

Cook’s current favorite song is Clipping by Mutemath. We can’t say that we’ve heard it but now it’s definitely near the top of our “songs to listen to” list. While on tour, one of Cook’s favorite songs to play is “Rapid Eye Movement”. Great choice! We never get tired of hearing it, especially live.

In other news, Cook is currently reading Catch 22 by Hitchens and his favorite TV show is Workaholics.

That’s all we could get from the artist for now. We’ll keep an eye out for important updates. You can also follow Cook on Twitter, which he updates regularly. Who knows? You might be lucky enough to catch him during another Q&A.

This Loud Morning
Just a quick update on David; he’s released his new album: “This Loud Morning”!

A True album (not just a concept album) flows in a full circle from beginning to end, each song telling a story of a doomed relationship. The darker theme’s show David’s emotional attachment to his music and show how the events in his life influence his songwriting.

Monday, Monday, so good to me. Monday mornin’, it was all I hoped it would be.  Well it will be all I hope it will be when David’s video is released. “It’s just another manic Monday.” Not quite “just” another manic Monday but “The ” manic Monday. Monday 23rd May 2011 is the day when you can see David’s tongue-in-cheek video for lead single  “The Last Goodbye.”

David Cook’s second major-label album This Loud Morning hits stores on June 28; On Monday, Cook pulls back the curtain on the tongue-in-cheek video for lead single  “The Last Goodbye,” and the image above is the exclusive first look at the clip.

In the video, which was directed by Nigel Dick (Britney Spears’ “Oops…I Did It Again,” Oasis’ “Wonderwall,” Nickelback’s “Photograph”), Cook goes AWOL from his band’s tour and loses his wallet on the beach. The band finds his stuff, and believes that he has gone missing and might have drowned. Cook, meanwhile, is oblivious to their concerns.

“It would have been easy to just set the band up and do a broody performance video,” Cook explained to EW. “But I wanted to do something a little more fun.”

In the preview shot above, Cook discovers a newspaper that contains the headline “David Cook Feared Drowned,” a prop he was particularly proud of. “I’m going to frame it and hang it in the house,” he said. “It’s probably one of the best perks or gifts I’ve ever gotten from this whole experience.”

The video will be premiering online on Monday (May 23), and Cook hopes that the positive vibe on set comes across in the clip. “We had so much fun over the two day shoot, and I really think people will be able to see that.”

Your very most favorite most singer is on American Idol tonight. Season 7′s winner will be singing his new single “The Last Goodbye,” and will be officially launching the promo cycle for his second album. This album is expected to be a mega mega hit after the first album sold over a million.

What a wait–nearly two years for the fans to hear new tunes. We loved his cover of Simple Minds’ “(Don’t You) Forget About Me,” but it was like a temporary holdover and now we finally have a new set of songs. Great.

Last week David said he was kind of walking in to tonight’s show without expectations: it’s almost a whole new show. He is looking forward to meeting the new contestants and is also really excited to meet the new judges. He said from what he had seen so far, Steven Tyler is a riot, and he thinks J. Lo’s been incredible. He is also excited to see Randy, Ryan, and everybody behind the scenes once more.

Got TiVo, or satellite TV where you can record the show tonight? Too bad if you don’t cause you will want to see the performance over and over. Who can get enough of David Cook? No. No. No. Bring it on David.
